Destructive solar sites in Massachusetts
The state’s solar policy has gone horribly wrong. Ratepayer and taxpayer subsidies are being funneled to big corporations to clear-cut forests, strip the land, mine sand and gravel where available, destroy our waterways and Indigenous cultural sites.
Large ground-mounted industrial solar projects have already destroyed over 4,000 acres of Massachusetts forests and farmland according to a recent Mass Audubon and Clark University study. Under the state’s climate plan, 158,000 of forested lands are proposed to be destroyed for more ground-mounted industrial solar.
Here are links to some of these destructive solar installations:
•Wareham, MA: 19 ground-mounted industrial solar/battery projects
•Wareham, MA: Fearing Hill forest, wetlands threatened by solar
•Wendell, MA: Adopted a one-year moratorium on industrial solar and battery projects
